The (non)work of the artists.

A talk by Olia Sosnovskaya, member of the (non)work group.

The artists discuss the notions of ‘work’ and ‘non-work’ in the context of contemporary art and other realms, in particular their specificity in the post-socialist context. Questioning the work-centered future, she turns to the political potentiality of laziness, procrastination and non-productivity, alternative models of pleasures and affective labor.

Olia Sosnovskaya (born 1988 in Minsk, Belarus) is an artist, researcher and writer based in Vienna. She works with text, performative and visual practices, exploring the problematics of festivity, collectivity and affect; body, dance, gender and postcolonial studies; contemporary modes of work and leisure and their intersection. Currently a PhD candidate at the PhD-in-Practice, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Сo-founder of the WORK HARD! PLAY HARD! collective platform (www.workhardplay.pw), member of the artistic-research group Problem Collective and (non)work group (http://statusproject.net/nonwork-collective-writings/).
